Ray Fernandez, Owner and Managing Partner
Ray Fernandez is the Owner and Managing Partner of Optimal BenefitsTM. He has established his organization as a leading global provider of employee benefits advisory services, customized outsourcing and HR consulting targeted at mid-size emerging growth companies with 100-3,000 full-time employees.
Ray has been an employee benefit consultant since 1992, representing clients in various industries for work performed in the employee benefit and human resources areas. He has worked with employers in home furnishing, national chain restaurants, major retailers, contract suppliers, banking, technology, higher education institutions and other high profile companies. Ray particularly excels at serving clients that have complex needs including employers that are publicly traded, have partially self-funded plans, have multi-state locations and organizations seeking profitable growth through global expansion.
As a student-athlete, Ray was recruited by several of the nation's top universities including the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he accepted an athletic scholarship to play soccer. He graduated from UCLA earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. In addition, he helped the UCLA Soccer Team win the NCAA National Championship, while being recognized and awarded team MVP honors. Ray continues to play soccer and remains actively involved with athletic sports in Southern California. He touts that one of his most challenging achievements is completing his first marathon in 2008. As a resident in South Orange County, Ray enjoys his personal time with his wife and children. He also takes great pride in being involved with his local community such as the Boys & Girls Club organization and being a donor to various charitable organizations.
Dan Koblin, Partner and Executive Vice President
We are very pleased to announce Dan Koblin as a Principal Partner and Executive Vice President of Optimal Benefits. For several years, Dan has been working closely with Optimal Benefits as a strategic business partner serving mutual client needs. In October 2012, Dan joined our company as a Principal Partner and Executive Vice President, where he primarily focuses on organizational performance and business development. Additionally, through his affiliation with his outside Broker-Dealer, Dan serves our clients as an investment advisor for group retirement planning, wealth management and financial planning for individuals.
Earlier in his career, Dan held Executive and Senior Level Management positions as a Human Resources professional. His corporate experience included large to mid-size companies, in a broad range of industries, that are both publicly traded and privately held. Some of these high-profile companies are PepsiCo, Disney, Gateway Computers and Washington Mutual, among other mid-size organizations.
Earning his Bachelor of Arts in Socioeconomics and Masters of Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University, Dan also earned his Personal Financial Planning certification at the University of California at Irvine. As a financial planner and investment advisor, Dan holds his Series 7 and Series 66 registrations. Being actively involved in his local community, Dan also serves as a Board of Director for a number of non-profit organizations.
